The girl lives with her mother and father on a small farm near the town. She enjoys looking up at the stars at night with her father, and on Sundays she travels to the church in town with her mother to listen to the priest’s sermon. Her life is simple yet idyllic, untouched by the outside world.
But all that changes when war breaks out in Europe and father leaves to fight with the other men. Mother becomes distant, fearful that they have been left alone forever. The girl feels alone, uncertain of what the future holds.
What is the girl to do? What can she do – she is but a girl. She too wishes to fight… but when she does, the consequences are shattering. Nothing will ever be the same again.
